I'm glad it's kind of a general thing as apposed to me being the odd man out.

Hmmmm, I figured the cats couldn't be handled because cats are more finicky with being held as apposed to dogs, as well as the fact that it was a big, busy, loud, dog infested area. I didn't give any thought to germs!

And from my experience, cat exhibitors are very different from dog exhibitors. The many dog shows I've been to, most of the exhibitors are outgoing and friendly, make eye contact, are engaged with spectators and judges alike, and look a bit more normal; ie, I don't see a lot of them dressed as their breed. Yanno, not a lot of folks wearing dalmation spotted clothes for example.

At the cat shows, generally, not all of them, the exhibitors exhibit feline fickleness, focus their attention mostly on their cats, rarely make eye contact with the curious public, and grudgingly engage in conversation with fellow exhibitors. They are also frequently dressed in clothes that imitate their breed. Yanno, the bengal and SV breeders who wear leopard/cheetah spotted clothes. It gives the impression that you're taking a bit of a risk to approach a person wearing fake ears, spotted clothes and whose body language says "stay away".
Hahahaha.

I'd say dog people are just as bitchy as their dogs-- but I only know the ones I know. I don't think either set of groups are worse than the other, but both sets can definitely give off vibes saying stay away. But then again-- it's a competition and people do pay good money to attend both kinds of shows. So while I do try to talk to spectators and chat it up, I also have plenty of times when I'd prefer to spend the time with my cats at my table and have some down time.

Cats can do no wrong <3
I think this story still suits this thread..

Yesterday (the day before yesterday now I guess) was a big day for me. It was the day I met the lovely Kristin and her beautiful Zeddie and Jimmy!! It was also the day I decided to feed my little one raw.

I got there early to look around, where I met Gord who knew which friend I was talking about before I said Kristin or Savannah cats. She is supposedly their biggest advocate, and raw enabler -and I believe it.

This was my first experience with savannah cats. They were so focussed, and their personalities definitely shined through. Kristin asked Zeddie to come sit on the scale, and she did right away, looking up at her mama. She then proceeded to jump on the cash counter like she owned the place. Jimmy was more shy but definitely friendly. He had quite the voice, and complained at the door, before he decided to try and jump on the highest shelf. XD

I thought they were gorgeous in their pictures, but seeing them in person was breathtaking. Zeddie, the lean lady with big green eyes, and Jimmy with his adorable grumpy face. The biggest thing I noticed was their skull structure. I finally understand the triangular face.

People stared in through the windows, and the new groomer had questions too. I can only imagine the attention she must have gotten at the expo. We talked for a little over an hour, and she gave me a lot of great advice.

Not that I had a doubt before, but I am so happy I had this experience before getting my savannah. It only makes me more excited and confident in my decision of entering this crazy loving world. This community is great, and I wish I could meet more of you in person. :)

*insert the pictures I didn't take here.. Shame on me.*
