cats sleeping patterns

Rafiki comes to bed around midnight and stays until 5 am. From 5 to 6:30m she will initiate several different "get the humans outta bed" activities. During the day, she sleeps 1-2 hours if I am around. Jammu, my pixie bob, sleeps most of the day away. He crashes around 2 pm and does not waddle out of bed until around 6 or 7. Jammu just turned 3 last week and Rafiki is 2 months younger.

Ok another odd question. So did you ever notice that your savannah seems to eat more and sleep more when they seem to be going through a growth spurt?

They definitely eat more during a growth spurt! Rafiki (F3C) had her last growth spurt in June when she was 2 years, 4 months old. She is currently weighing in at 13-1/2 lbs but should be just over 14. She is still recovering from illness and has not regained it all.

Weights are all over the place for the first 3 or 4 generations and then stabilize for the SBT generations. An F1 is not really 50% domestic and 50% serval in terms of what is inherited. In the same litter, you can get a monster male and a petite female. The kitten that is largest in the litter will not necessarily become a large cat. In general, the males are larger than the females and the F1 and F2 males are the largest overall.

Jax definitely sleeps more and eats everything in sight when going through a growth spurt! He is an F3 and 19 months old. He still looks long and lanky except his big muscular butt! Lol. He really doesn't look it but last weigh in he hit the 22 lb mark! When he is mingling with the big Maine Coon it's very believable as his frame is quite a bit larger! As far as growing up emotionally, ,,,, he's worse than ever! In to EVERYTHING!

He'll be 2 yrs old in February. Physical maturity occurs at 3 yrs. I haven't a clue when they reach emotional maturity. In Atticus's case, I suspect it'll be between 3-5 years.

Thought I would tag on to this forum on sleeping patterns. Ella is almost 6 months and she likes to sleep from mid morning to late afternoon. Then she is up and active all evening and she is fairly active overnight and greets me bright and early each morning. She is very affectionate when she wakes up or when I get up in the am. Walks around the house with me right under my feet and wants some petting and rubbing under her chin. My husband is home during the day, but the house is definitely quieter when I am at work. Seems to be her pattern - I am wondering if she might change her schedule as she gets a bit older and more settled in her home here?
