Shelby, thank you very much! True about the enclosure.
Can you send me a link to check the counties permit you were talking about? & a link to the USDA packet? These are the sites I know of:
http://www.hybridlaw.com/
Currently my fiance & I are in Wake CO. we are moving in a month or two. We are actually flexible in where we go, we are very lucky for that. We work from home and go to school online. We will be renting, which is not ideal, but I know that we can arrange it so that the enclosure and cage are easily removable.
Here is my comment:
Greetings,
My name is Maureen Higgins. I am 22 years old, and my dream is to raise Savannah kittens. This new APHIS ruling would put an end to my lifelong passion of felines, contributing to the Savannah cat breed, and providing the people of the world with friendly, funky Savannah kittens. I do not know of any breeder that would honestly be able to comply with the standards set forth by the proposed new APHIS ruling. I beg you to please put a stop to Docket No. APHIS-2011-O0003. The thing that breeders prize is the underfoot, home raised kitten that has a bubbling personality. With this new ruling, that will be impossible. What the interested buyers want to see is a kitten that is friendly, personable, and social. With this new ruling, a sociable kitten will be a thing of the past. Look inside your soul and imagine if you were a buyer of a pet Savannah kitten, what sort of kitten would you want to bring home to your family, to your children? One who has been raised in a sterile environment, afraid of humans, or one who has been hand raised, bonded to humans since the day they were born? I am praying for Docket No. APHIS-2011-O0003 to be opposed by everyone reading this comment. Being a cat breeder costs enough already. Please put a stop to this insensitive new rule. A young woman's dream, not to mention the hundreds of other people who have invested their time and money in to the cats and their enclosures, etc., will be crushed.
Thank you,
Maureen Higgins
