Raw fish?

Hello I was thinking of supplementing part of my savannahs chicken based diet with some raw saltwater fish for a little variety and added protein. I would be using sail catfish, redfish, whiting and possibly other small minows or other saltwater fish as I live in FL. The fish would be cleaned the way we eat them and then frozen for added safety and then fed to my cats raw about 3 times a week. I was wondering if any one else has done this and if it is ok to feed this type of meat to my cats?

I used to feed mine raw fish all the time until Chuju developed an allergy to it and threw up all over the house. The others were fine. I just washed it and cut it up whole. Guts and all. They loved it!

Fish should be fed in moderation (no more than 1x wk at a maximum) as a treat, not as a regular part of the diet because:
it contains low calcium levels;
it contains high amounts of the enzyme thiaminase which destroys vitamin B-1 and can cause neurological problems & seizures;
high magnesium content can cause urinary tract problems;
toxic heavy metal content in predatory fish (tuna, for example);
tuna, an unfortunate ingredient in many commercial cat foods, causes vitamin E depletion which can cause a condition called steatitis;
it is allergenic and there's always the risk of allergic reaction.

I think in small amounts it will be fine. The omega 3s in oily fish are very good for them.
