Let's talk about the quirky behavior of our wonderful cats -- things that make us laugh or cause our hair to turn gray.

Taji loves to drag things around the house -- cat beds, rugs, dirty laundry, anything he can move. He picks challenging objects sometimes and it makes me laugh (and hurts his feelings) when I see him chest to the floor & butt in the air dragging something really heavy.

Maliik is at war with fruit. He hates fruit. Every time I put fresh fruit into the fruit bowl he has to serval slap it into submission. Bananas are his particular nemesis and when he's done with them, they look like they've been run over by a car.

Juba prefers to get my attention by attempting to bring me down to his eye level. When I'm walking through the house, he'll hurl himself at my feet, ridge up & tail pouffed, when he wants to cuddle. Can't tell you how many times I've been knocked into a wall or almost did a face plant just because he wants his chin scratched.

well, I cannot match yours, but here goes...

If I wake in the middle of the night and go into the BR, Zuri pops up, runs and gets a ball and wants me to throw it so she can fetch. It is really cute sometimes and really annoying in the middle of the night.

Zuri wants to play all the time, so she will literally drag her toys all over and put them where I am. If I ignore her, she will nudge the toys toward me with her paws...too darn smart ;)

Taj is much more laid back, but if he wants something, he is relentless. So he sits i front of my computer monitor so i can't see. I put him down, he jumps back up. This goes on for many minutes...

Taj also follows me into the kitchen at times and flops down on the carpet mat I have by the sink and rolls on his back...

Oh, he thinks he's a Ragdoll! (Check out the ragdoll forum, there are hundreds of pictures of floppy cats, all just like Taj!)

This is the kind of kitty I want! :)

Oh dear...too many funny quirks to mention...

Like your Taji, my Missy likes to drag things around the house... BIG things. She had a king-size blanket she'd drag about our big Victorian house...upstairs, downstairs, halfway out the pet door to the enclosure. She'd drag it somewhere then all of them would pile on it for a nap together. It was super-cute to find them all like that :)
Then one of my pet buyers brought us a gift of a huge Tigger doll (she worked for Disney) and that became her new obsession. We find him all over the place, he's got holes in his nose as I think that is where she grabs hold of him to drag... Missy is also obsessed by herbs, anytime I am chopping them for cooking, I have to give her a sprig to roll about with and drool on.

Coco is my shadow chaser. When she was a baby I worried her vision was bad, I even took her to a specialist for it, because when playing with wand toys she'd seemingly completely MISS them and be pouncing on the ground next to it. They couldn't find anything wrong with her...and then we came to discover it is because she is obsessed with shadows. So if you are waving the wand toy and the others are pouncing on that, she's pouncing on the shadow it makes! At night, she waits for me in bed because my bedside lamp means I can make shadows for her to chase all over our bed....she's the kookiest thing chasing them too, she plays with abandon and it is obvious how much fun she has!

Bobo (my first Savannah) likes to suckle clothing..it has to be woven cotton, a shirt and you have to be wearing it at the time. We are careful to keep his claws short because of it! He also has a particular toy he likes to fetch and no other. It is a short wand with a short length of ostrich feathering. You have to fling it over and over for him. Any other toy is not acceptable.

Nadiya is obsessed by real sheepskin mousies, Baz loves to hug my neck and give me kisses, Zak needs to sleep on my feet, Nina is very specific about her playtime and whips her tail in excitement anytime you move to "her" play rug...

Paige, you are lucky that Zuri only nudges toys towards you, I had an F3 Millie Mousie that would drop them on my head in the middle of the night and if I didn't wake up and throw it, she'd go dunk them in water and try again..eek!

I've also had an F2 with an absolute gravity fetish, it was hilarious to watch her as it was obvious how much fun pushing things off edges was... She's also the one that gave her new owner a reverse mohawk one night, chewing a strip down the center of her head as she lay on her side in bed. RIP Karamu, she was the coolest cat.

I'll stop there...I feel like such a crazy cat lady talking about my fur children forever like this!

LOL, Brigitte! You have had enough experience for all of us...

Now, i didn't tell you that Zuri drops all of her toys on me in the middle of the night...especially her little soccer ball :)

They all sound so awesome!!! Gotta love them all. And Karamu sounds awesome!

She was... the completest clown :) A friend named her "circus kitty" shortly after arrival because of the flips and leaps she could make and just look so darn easy... Karamu was my first queen, and the kittens I have here are her greatgrandchildren...so the SBTs down from her as an F2A. Pretty cool, especially as Lacey (the girl in the litter) has so much of her greatgrandma's personality... and looks :)

There used to be a dollar bill stuck to our dining room wall. People would ask about it, and we'd say "Karamu won it". One of her party tricks was to stand by the door then leap to the top in one jump ... we were having a dinner party and she strolls in and just stands by the door. She looked up at the top of the door and then over to the people at the table. A guy friend of mine says "you can't make that", she looked at him so he continued with "I bet you one dollar you can't make that jump" and he got his wallet out and slapped a dollar bill on the table. She looked at him, looked at the top of the door and looked at him again. Then hopped up on top of the door and looked down smugly. So we stuck the dollar bill on the wall.

That is just so wonderful...being able to to have a legacy to your first queen, by having one of her great-grandchildren. And an SBT to boot ;)

Karamu sounds like such a spectacular cat!!! And extremely smart! I love the memories they leave us with - just wish they weren't only memories sometimes :( But that is life...

Discovering many quirks with Keljin these first few months as a new kitty mama..

In the morning he likes to pounce on my face to wake me up, and proceeds to lick my face with his sandpaper tongue nonstop until I wake up.. I've tried leaving him be but he will gladly lick me 5 min or more without stopping until my skin hurts!

When we are up and its playtime, he likes to play hunter. No matter where I go, he is lurking on the stairs or across the hallway, peeking his little eyes around the corner waiting to charge at me. Then he arches his back and tail, flattens his ears and gets all fluffed up and scary looking, but as soon as I put my face to ground level all he wants to do is charge then headbutt and lick my face. Its like he tries to scare me like hes gonna attack and run at me, but then he changes his mind and gets affectionate as soon as he is within reach. He likes to play "tag" with me in the hallways, as he has learned from his big sister ferret, Winry. They take turns chasing each other all over!

He is also obsessed with the toilet. When he hears it flush, he has to hop on top of it to watch the water swirl down. He also enjoys unrolling all the toilet paper all on the ground for me to clean up too.

Definitely worth keeping that dollar! It probably brings up that story and good memories for any new guest who sees it. That is great, I would love if Keljin grew up to be a good jumper like that :)
