We just keep lids down, except the bathroom with the bathtub which the taps can be turned on by an enterprising kitty. The rule in our house is that if you leave the toilet lid up, you clean up the resultant mess...this meant over the years even hubby's friends learned to put the lid down... men CAN learn ;-)

Mind you, I had a Savannah that thought an open toilet bowl was a kiddy wading pool and so would splash all over... but as Pam points out there is a kitten safety issue too, that makes me shudder at the thought :-(
